Pillared walling is supplied in random lengths and heights, set on a 100mm bed. Each face is traditionally hand crafted with a chisel and mallet, creating a distinctive ribbed texture that reflects the skill of traditional stonework. The ends are sawn, while the top and bottom reveal the natural cleft properties of the slate.
Slate has two workable planes: the cleavage plane and the pillaring line. The pillaring line runs like the grain in timber, and in good-quality slate it sits at 90° to the cleavage plane. Pillared walling is typically produced with a pillared face, while the back may be pillared, sawn or gauged, depending on the intended finish.

We also offer free click & collect for any order weighing 45kg or less. Collection is from our store based in Deveron, Truro, Cornwall

Returns Process
We recommend ordering a sample before placing your order, as our tiles and landscaping products are often special-order bespoke items. This ensures you are completely happy with the colour, texture and finish before committing to a larger order.
Please note that in many cases, we are unable to accept returns for a full refund due to the bespoke nature of these products. Where returns are possible, the following process applies:
- Contact Us - Please notify us in writing within 7 days of receiving your order if you wish to request a return. Provide your order number, details of the product and the reason for return.
- Approval - Our team will review your request. If your items are eligible for return, we will confirm the next steps and provide instructions.
- Condition of Goods - Returned items must be in their original, unopened packaging and in a resalable condition. We cannot accept products that have been used, opened or damaged.
- Return of Goods - You are responsible for arranging the return of goods and covering any return delivery costs, unless the product is faulty or has been supplied incorrectly.
- Refunds - Once the goods have been inspected and approved, a refund will be issued. In some cases, a restocking fee may apply. Refunds will be processed back to your original method of payment within 14 working days.
- Non-Returnable Items - Bespoke or special-order items that have been specifically ordered in for you are non-returnable unless faulty.
